Our latest recruit Charly Barnes shares her experience of her first week working with Fundraising Auctions.
Despite my background being in the Sales environment, new job nerves hit a little before joining the team at Fundraising Auctions. Various thoughts crossed my mind as I was still experiencing some reverse culture shock after recently returning home after a lengthy volunteer project in rural South Africa. How easy will it be to settle back in to working life? Are my sales skills transferable in a different sector? Will I have the same strong relationships with my manager and co-workers?
These were quashed early on, as I was welcomed into the team with open arms and adapted back to office life again. On my first day, the team had fun with a photo booth and props set up in the office, to be used for marketing material, which was a good ground for getting to know my fellow co-workers. There was a lot of information to take onboard, as the company is in a big transition period of growth across all their sister companies; making it an exciting time to join!
Diving straight in, my manager and I attended a networking event hosted by Capital to Coast; where we met the real- life self-professed Father Christmas! The event was based around the idea of prosperity, growth and the importance of strong customer service. It was a key event to attend, to be able to build new contacts and relationships from a wide range of businesses from a new sector.
I was given the support to start liaising with clients to arrange more partnerships of our auction services in the New Year, to continue raising even more funds for some inspiring charities and causes!
